Can the battery self-recharge during use?
Regenerative braking is not appropriate for bicycles at this time. While some products advertise this feature, on inspection, you will find that it increases weight, complexity and cost, and the amount of energy recovered is usually less than 10%. Perhaps in five years’ time technology will be improved to make this a useful feature.
How long will the battery last?
A battery’s lifetime will be very dependent on its usage habits and how it is cared for. The battery has a one-year warranty. For more information on our warranty, see our Product Warranty section.
Where do I buy a new battery?
Replacement batteries are available through Gocycle resellers. Visit the Store Locator to find your closest reseller.
How does cold weather affect the battery?
As with other battery-powered products, performance is known to be reduced as temperature decreases. If the outside temperature is less than 15 degrees Celsius, you may start to experience a drop in power and range. At 0 degrees Celsius, you may even experience less than 50% power and range. The battery will not permanently be damaged by cold weather; it is only a temporary effect. If using your Gocycle in a cold climate, for best performance, we advise that you store and charge the battery indoors.
How often do I need to charge the battery?
You can view full details of the best practices for battery charging in the Gocycle Owner’s Manual. We recommend charging your Gocycle after a ride and, once charged, unplugging the Gocycle from the charger and turning off the Gocycle to conserve battery power. Do not leave your Gocycle on charge for more than 24 hours.
Should I run the battery flat before recharging?
What is the range of the battery?
Do I have to remove the battery to charge it?
Will the battery get hot?
The battery can get warm under charge and/or during use whilst riding. This is normal. We recommend that you allow the battery to cool before placing it on charge. A battery that is warm as a result of usage will not charge properly until it has cooled sufficiently. This feature automatically protects the battery against possible damage.

How do I change the brake pads?
If the need arises, you can find full instructions of how to replace the pads in the Gocycle Owner’s Manual. If you are not experienced with bicycle maintenance, we recommend that you consult a Gocycle Reseller or bicycle technician and be sure to provide the technician the Gocycle Owner’s Manual as a reference.

Is the Gocycle compatible with a cargo trailer?
We do not recommend the use of trailers with the Gocycle. Conventional bicycle cargo trailers tend to affix to the bicycle frame by way of clamping to the tubes of the rear triangle. The Gocycle employs Cleandrive technology — an enclosed single-sided rear swing arm — which the trailer cannot clamp to. Cargo trailers are available that affix to bicycle seatposts, but these can raise the overall centre of gravity and may affect the balance of the ride.
Why are battery leds and the speed leds on my dash are flashing alternately?
For firmware version 79 and above, after 100 miles/160 kms and every further 500 miles/800 kms, the dash will alternatively flash all battery leds “C” and all speed leds “E”. This is an important safety reminder that a service or inspection is due. In the event that your dash is flashing the service reminder, please visit www.gocycle.com/safety and review any important Technical Bulletins and safety information relating to your Gocycle model. You should also download and review the latest Owner’s Manual from www.gocycle.com/manuals. After visiting www.gocycle.com/safety you can hold the gear upshift selector and the motor power selector on (rotated wrist down for G3) for 3 seconds and the dash will return to normal display. Note, by resetting the service reminder you are confirming that you have visited www.gocycle.com/safety and have understood any Technical Bulletins or new information relating to your Gocycle and you have downloaded and reviewed the Owner’s Manual relating to your Gocycle.
The motor feels hot during or after use. Is this normal?
What happens if water gets in the motor?
If you are riding in the rain, we advise that you use the motor when possible and it is safe to do so. The heat of the motor will help the motor dry off. If Gocycle is left standing in the rain and water gets into the motor, it is unlikely that the motor will not function. In this case, you should either dry off the motor with a towel or run the motor so that the water evaporates.

How do I use the boost button?
What is the recommended way to use the motor assistance?
For optimum performance and best combination of assistance, speed and range, it is recommended that you use motor assistance to get up to speed and as a “top up” to help you maintain a high average speed. You will have the best results by pedaling and using motor assistance to get from A to B faster and with less effort.

Is there a rider weight limit for Gocycle?
This product has been designed with a maximum recommended weight limit of 100kg (220lbs) for the rider, clothing and all luggage, and is intended for use on paved roads. For rider and luggage weight 100-115kg (220-250lbs): riding style, road condition, tire pressures and luggage position may reduce product service life. Luggage weight should not exceed 10% of total rider and luggage weight. Never exceed rider and luggage weight of 115kg (250lbs) at any time. Exceeding this limit will void all warranties and may result in the product being unsafe for operation.

What is the top speed of Gocycle?
Consult the Tech Specs section.
Are there any age restrictions for riding Gocycle?
Do I have to pedal Gocycle or can I free-wheel under power?
EU law requires that the pedals are moving to have power. How fast you need to pedal is not defined. When using the Gocycle off the public highway, or in a territory that allows it, free wheeling under power is possible. We recommend contacting your national regulatory body for advice on local laws.

Can I take Gocycle on the London Underground?

Do I have to load and run the GocycleConnect App to ride my Gocycle?
The GocycleConnect App is an accessory provided free of charge to all Gocycle owners. It is not essential for the product to be ridden or operated and does not form part of the core Gocycle specification. However, the GocycleConnect App is required for initial setup and configuration of the product either directly by the owner or by an authorised Gocycle dealer. If you do not wish to use the free app, we recommend that you purchase your Gocycle from an authorised Gocycle dealer who can setup and configure it to your requirements. We do however strongly recommend that all Gocycle owners use the App for registration of warranty, service, and ownership notifications. There is also an opt-in option for receiving updates from Gocycle such as new product information.

What are the recommended tyre pressures?
For the best compromise of comfort and easy rolling, the front tyre should be inflated to 25psi–30psi and the rear tyre should be 40psi–50psi.
A softer front tyre pressure will provide a “cushioning effect” to the drive components. Increasing front tyre pressure above the recommended limit will result in increased shock loads to the motor, gearbox and clutch, which will accelerate wear and may result in premature failure of these components.
Under no circumstance increase the tyre pressure to higher than 80psi (5.5 bar).
What should I do if I get a puncture?
If you get a puncture, you should stop riding the Gocycle as you may damage the rim of the wheel. See the Gocycle Owner’s Manual for how to fix a flat tyre. You may want to remove the PitstopWheel® and take it to your local bicycle shop where a technician can repair the puncture for you. Like any bicycle maintenance, you should expect to pay for this service. Gocycle uses standard BMX/20in/406 size tyres and tubes. We recommend using a tube for 20in x 1.75in tyres.
How long will the tyres last?
Tyre life will vary depending on usage and riding style. Typically, a high-performance tyre, such as the standard tyre sold with Gocycle, will not last as long as a lower performance tyre. The tradeoff is weight, puncture resistance and easy rolling. When the central grooves in the tyre have worn out, you should replace the tyre as it may be unsafe to use.
Can I change the tyre for an alternative?
Where can I buy a new inner tube?
You can order a new inner tube from a Gocycle Reseller or from any other cycle dealer. The inner tube must be suitable for a 20in x 1.75in (406mm x 47mm) wheel size.
Where can I buy a new tyre?
You can order a new Gocycle Performance Tyre from a Gocycle Reseller. Please note that we highly recommend that you order the Performance Gocycle tyres that came with your Gocycle. We have specifically designed these tyres to deliver the best performance possible through decreased weight and reduced rolling resistance. You may find that significantly more effort is required to pedal and less range is delivered from the battery when using a substitute.
